Gas Converter 2002
Gas Converter 2002 is a desktop application
that performs conversions between units of energy and volume
commonly found in the Oil and Gas business. Its simple user
interface and small screen "footprint" help make it
an unobtrusive tool for daily use.
To convert between units of energy and units of volume, the
calorific value of the gas must obviously be known. This
varies between fields and platforms, so the Gas Converter
2002 allows for the use of specific calorific values on a
field-by-field basis.
Whilst the Gas Converter 2002 comes with the commonest units
loaded, it also allows users to add and remove units, to
ensure that it matches their needs more exactly. In a similar
manner, the user can enter the field-specific calorific
values.

Other Features
Some of the main features of the Gas Converter
2002 include the following:
-
A simple-to-use, intuitive
interface.
Get up and running as soon as it is installed. No time
wasted learning how to use a slow website or convoluted
application.
-
Convert accurately between
units of Energy and units of Volume.
Any conversion between units of energy and volume
requires a calorific value to be used. Don't put up
with "industry averages" anymore. Now, you
can use the correct calorific value depending on the
Terminal or Field you are working with!
-
Customisable to suit the
user.
Hiding or showing certain fields on the main screen
allows the user to reduce the "footprint" of
the application when required, but gives full access to
all of the fields when this is preferred.
-
Updateable and
expandable.
Users are able to add and remove units, and the
conversion rates used, to ensure that it matches their
needs more exactly. In a similar manner, the
field-specific calorific values can be easily
maintained. This can be done on an adhoc or permanent
basis, with the data stored on the user's local
machine. [Note: The forthcoming
Gas Converter Pro allows for the
sharing of this information across an office, or entire
company]
These are the major changes made between versions:
Version 1.1
-
The Installation routine has been improved to allow the
uninstallation of previous versions of the routine. It
also allows the user to place a shortcut to the program
on the desktop. The problems with installing onto fresh
Windows 2000 installations has also been fixed.
-
Calculations no longer fail when the number contains
commas.
-
The application can now be minimized when not in use.
-
Fixed spelling mistake for tooltip on first value
select box.
-
Put formulas used into tooltip for result boxes
-
Corrected Calorific Value units (MJ/m3 instead of
kJ/m3). [Thanks to David Lister for spotting this one!]
-
An Uninstall link has been added to the program folder.
