New Forest Trip 2007

Good Friday 6th April 5.30AM early start to miss the bank holiday traffic. Not so easy if you're not an early riser.
early start
Stop at Clackett lane for breakfast with obligatory opening of bonnets to check levels and admire Carl's painted air filter housing. Clackett lane
We were surrounder by Ferarris at our second stop at Flete services on the M3. A policeman took an interest in the illegal numberplate on the Ferarri F 355.ferarris numberplate

Friday evening, Carlo from the SADMOG group found some of us test driving an ailling traveller through the lanes around Alderholt (problem was tissue sucked into air filter blocking the air). We got to admire his unrestored and totally original lowlight convertible.

Saturday we drove through the New Forest (see pic of the wild ponies grazing by the roadside) to visit Beaulieux National Motoring Museum who were kind enough to allow us display parking a guided tour of the exhibits and a club discount on entry. Pictured below right (seated on the left- our left), is Jay from the SADMOG group who joined us for the day.  (Southampton And District Morris Owners Group).

Sunday, we met up at the Asburn Hotel to travel in convoy to the Ringwood Town and Country experience where we formed up in a display line before visiting the very interesting museum. Followed by tea afterwards and a trip to the lovely village of Burley in the heart of the New Forest. Finally back to Alderholt Mill for cream tea and to watch Melvin attempt to fix his non- charging Minor. (Another recent acquisition- he's only had the car for 3 weeks). Teething troubles with new car. meet at hotel

By the way, no Minors were harmed during this trip. Only "Minor" faults occurred and all the cars kept going and we all got home safely. Melvins "non charging car" may simply be the ignition light staying on despite the battery still charging as the car kept on starting and going fine through the trip.
